Atletico Madrid Claim Narrow Victory Over Borussia Dortmund in Champions League

Late Goals Seal Crucial Win

Atletico Madrid emerged victorious from their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Borussia Dortmund, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The match saw both teams field strong lineups, with Atletico Madrid led by Marcos Llorente and Borussia Dortmund spearheaded by Erling Haaland. The visitors took an early lead through Julian Brandt, but Atletico rallied back with goals from Samuel Lino and Yannick Carrasco.

Atletico Madrid's victory was marred by injuries to key players Stefan Savic and José Giménez, whose fitness for the second leg is uncertain. Dortmund, on the other hand, will be without Mahmoud Dahoud, who was sent off late in the game.

The second leg of the tie will be played on April 14 at Signal Iduna Park, where Dortmund will be looking to overturn the deficit and qualify for the semi-finals.
