Dallas, TX - The National Basketball Association (NBA) has announced that Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II has been named to the 2023-24 NBA All-Rookie Second Team. This prestigious honor recognizes Lively's outstanding performance during his inaugural season in the league. Lively, a 19-year-old native of Pennsylvania, was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The Mavericks acquired him via a trade on draft night. Despite being a rookie, Lively has quickly established himself as a valuable contributor for the Mavericks. He has averaged 10.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 52.3% from the field. Lively's impressive rookie campaign culminated in his selection to the All-Rookie Second Team. The team was chosen by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the NBA on a daily basis. In addition to Lively, the All-Rookie Second Team includes Orlando Magic guard Paolo Banchero, Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green, New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram, and Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray. The Mavericks are thrilled with Lively's recognition and believe he has a bright future ahead of him. The team is eager to see him continue to develop and reach his full potential in the NBA.
