Another Blown Save In The 9th Inning Costs The Mets The Game

Díaz Blows Another Save As Mets Fall To D-Backs

Another blown save in the 9th inning costs the Mets the game

Edwin Diaz has now blown 4 saves in his last 6 outings

Edwin Diaz blew his second save in as many nights as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied for a 5-3 victory over the New York Mets on Tuesday night.

The Mets had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly by Pete Alonso, but the Diamondbacks tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a double by Ketel Marte.

With runners on first and second, Carson Kelly hit a ground ball to first base that Diaz fielded and threw home. The throw was late, however, and Marte scored the winning run.

The loss dropped the Mets to 25-24 on the season, while the Diamondbacks improved to 23-26.

Diaz has now blown 4 saves in his last 6 outings. He has a 4.74 ERA in 23 appearances this season.

The Mets have lost 4 of their last 5 games.
